Among those 250 is Jacksonville’s Green Room Brewing that will be celebrating its one year anniversary this weekend. According to a press release from the BA, there were 1,989 breweries in operation last year that employed 103,585 workers. The numbers represent an 11% growth in the industry over 2010.
“We saw rapid growth in brewery openings last year, particularly with microbrewery start-ups, and these numbers are poised to rise even more in 2012,” said Paul Gatza, director of Brewers Association in the press release. “In February 2012, we already topped 2,000 operating breweries—a truly remarkable milestone. We look forward to even more success and the continued expansion of the craft beer market.”
