It was not too long ago that IPAs were a fairly rare commodity. Americans just did not have the taste for them. But, with innovators like Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo IPA and Dogfish Head’s line up of 60-, 75-, 90-, and 120 Minute IPAs the masses came around to make IPA one of the most popular styles in America. The style has become so popular that it is the most entered category at the Great American Beer Festival Competition held every year in October.
Local Jacksonville IPA Day events include:
One is never far from an IPA a this Orange Park restaurant and brewery. But, for IPA Day, the guys at Pinglehead Brewing – the on-site brewery – will tap their own Landslide IPA along with Southern Tier Gemini, Dogfish Head 90 Minute, and Stone Double Dry-Hopped IPA.
Get to the Jacksonville Beach beer Mecca early if you want to score a pint of their newest Tap 42 offering Tactical Tomahawk IPA. The limited edition IPA will go fast since they only made one barrel.
Intuition Ale Works
The always innovative brewers at Intuition will bring back two favorite IPAs for IPA Day: Double Elimination IPA and Railspur Double IPA. Both are potent, worthy IPAs that are sure to please the hop heads at the Riverside brewery.
At 6:00 p.m. the Riverside restaurant will tap a special firkin keg of Stone Double Dry-Hopped IPA. Stop by and visit with the representative from Stone, too.
Pele’s Wood Fire
One of the most coveted of IPAs will be tapped tonight at Pele’s: Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. This monster of a beer rocks the ABV at 15 to 20 percent making it one of the biggest IPAs anywhere. In addition, it is very hard to come by and generally does not last long when it does show up. Pele’s will be selling it for $1 per ounce beginning at 7:30 p.m.
