Kickback’s, Bold Bean Kick Off Jax Beer Week

Jacksonville Beer Week is finally here and there are a lot of unbelievably cool events taking place all over town. No longer do Jacksonvillians (Jacksonvillites?) have to travel to other cities for a quality beer week. From this moment on we can triumphantly pronounce that we, the people of Jacksonville have our own spectacular beer week, and we are darned proud of it!

Each day this week I will add a post with the events happening that day. Believe me when I say, there are some truly amazing events happening.

To kick things off tonight what better place is there than the beer capitol of Jacksonville, Kickback’s Gastropub in Riverside/Avondale? Steve Flores owner and beer connoisseur – freshly returned from Belgium — is putting 15 beers from local brewers on tap tonight for local beer night; five each from Intuition Ale Works, Bold City Brewing, and Green Room Brewery. And to top that, each will be sold at happy hour prices all day! Look for visits from brewery reps as well as distributors, too!

Not to be outdone, Bold Bean Coffee in Riverside is offering $4 pints of local and coffee-inspired beers all week. Look for the special series of beers brewed by Bold City Brewing, it’s a knockout!

Watch for my post tomorrow with the events happening tomorrow night. You don’t want to miss a single one!

Engine 15 is on Fire with Beer Week Events

Jacksonville Beer Week Starts tomorrow and, as I have written before, there are a whole slew of events taking place all over town. One of the many venue that will be celebrating this week is Engine 15 on Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville Beach.

The guys and gals at E15 are not only awesome hosts and hostesses, but they also have a great line-up of brew specials for Jax Beer Week. Be sure to visit them this week for awesome beer and great food!

Wednesday, April 4

A special beer food pairing is in the works matching Engine 15’s Oak Aged Simcoe Imperial IPA with steam burger sliders and coconut rice for only $10. Yum!

Thursday, April 5

Ed Stansel and Roger Bull have been writing about beer for the Florida Times Union on their Amber Waves blog for several years now. They are not only authorities on drinking good beers, but now they are delving into making good beer. A few weeks ago they visited E15 to experience the Brew-It-Yourself aspect of Engine 15. On Thursday they will be tapping the beer they brewed – named Amber Waves, of course. It’s a hoppy Double Amber. All proceeds benefit the St. Johns Riverkeeper – you can’t make good beer without good water, right?!

Friday, April 6

Jax Beer Tap Takeover at The Engine! Seventeen local Jax beers including…five Engine 15 beers on tap + one Engine 15 in a Firkin + Engine 15 Old Battle Axe through the Randall! And ten beers from Intuition, Bold City & Green Room. You might just find yourself in Jax beer Nirvana!

Visit the Engine this week and help support local beer!
